A no-code AI agent builder is a place to write what an AI worker should do, connect the apps it may open, and set the moments where it stops and asks you first. Setting one up takes an afternoon. The surprises arrive later, in the monthly bill and in which builders survive the year.
What you actually set up
A no-code builder gives you three boxes to fill. The job, written in plain English, the way you would brief a new hire. The apps the agent may open, picked from a list you log into (Gmail, HubSpot, Slack, a calendar). And the stop points, where the agent waits for a yes before it sends anything to a customer. Nothing gets trained. Most of the real work is deciding what the agent must never touch.
The bill counts steps, not finished jobs
Pricing is per agent action, and one job is many actions. Zapier Agents counts an activity every time an agent fires a trigger, runs an action, searches the web, or reads a knowledge source, and it cuts off a single run at 10 activities on the free plan and 40 on paid ones. The monthly pot is 400 activities on free and 1,500 on Pro. Lindy sells credits instead: $29.99 per person per month buys 3,000, and one research run can spend 250 to 1,000 of them.
Pick one you can walk away from
These products get cancelled. OpenAI showed its drag-and-drop Agent Builder in October 2025 and then set its shutdown date for November 30, 2026, roughly thirteen months later, leaving people running client work on it to rebuild elsewhere. Keep the job description, the rules and the do-not list in a document you own, so moving costs an afternoon. Start on a free plan with one boring repeating task like filing invoices, and pay only after a week where nobody had to correct the agent.
